At Neilson Meadery, every drop of mead we craft is a blend of history, passion, and the unique spirit of Taranaki. Founded by Vivian Neilson — a dedicated mazer with over a decade of experience — our meadery was born out of a love for fermenting naturally and a deep connection to Norse history.

Vivian’s journey began with a fascination for the ancient drink of the gods, a curiosity that soon turned into a passionate, dedicated love of the craft. Over the years, he has honed his skills to create meads that are both steeped in tradition and brimming with bold, innovative flavors. From crisp, fruit-forward batches to rich, spiced creations, each bottle is made with care, using the finest local ingredients New Zealand has to offer.
